Madrid, September 21 (KUNA) -- The Royal Spanish Football Federation announced on Monday the renewal of Luis de la Fuente’s contract as head coach of the senior national team until 2032, following Spain’s victory at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In a statement on its official website, the federation said the board of directors unanimously approved the extension of the coach’s contract at a meeting where federation president Rafael Llorente emphasized that the federation seeks “a project based on stability and trust.” Llorente added that De la Fuente is “the most decorated coach in the history of the national team,” noting his 14-year association with the federation. The new contract covers Spain’s participation in the UEFA European Championships in 2028 and 2032, as well as the 2030 World Cup, co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, along with three editions of the UEFA Nations League in 2027, 2029, and 2031. De la Fuente officially took charge of the senior national team in December 2022, leading them to three titles: the UEFA Nations League in 2023, the UEFA European Championship in 2024, and the 2026 World Cup in the United States.
