Ramallah, September 21 (KUNA) -- Israeli occupation forces raided the town of Budu, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, today, Monday, for the second time within 24 hours. Budu is the hometown of Qadri Samara, who was arrested by special Israeli forces on Sunday after they raided a hospital in Ramallah.
The Jerusalem Governorate said in a statement that the occupation forces carried out a wide-ranging arrest campaign targeting dozens of young men in the town, coinciding with searches, vandalism, and smashing inside several homes, as well as beating Palestinian citizens. It added that the occupation continues to detain at least 53 young men at an interrogation and detention center set up inside a house seized during the raid on the town.
Israeli occupation forces claimed that Samara’s arrest following the raid on the hospital where he was receiving treatment was due to “his carrying out a shooting operation yesterday that resulted in the death of a soldier,” according to their statement. The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth quoted extremist minister in the occupation government Itamar Ben-Gvir as calling for the execution of Samara.
In a related development, the Israeli army launched an arrest campaign in the West Bank that targeted 13 Palestinians, including two sisters and several released prisoners, according to the Prisoners’ Affairs Media Office. The office said in a statement that raids, arrests, field investigations, mass detentions, and harassment of citizens have escalated, reflecting the continuation of an escalation policy against Palestinians in various areas of the West Bank.
