Malaysia calls for global solidarity to protect the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques

Kuala Lumpur, Sept 21 (KUNA) – Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called on Muslims around the world on Monday to unite and show solidarity in order to protect the sanctity of Mecca and Medina and to confront any threat to the Two Holy Mosques and the safety of civilians. In a statement, Hamidi said he was following with deep concern the recent developments regarding attempts to undermine the security and sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques, stressing the necessity of keeping Mecca and Medina free from any form of conflict, threat, or military action. He expressed his strongest rejection and condemnation of any act that could threaten the safety of civilians, pilgrims performing Hajj, Umrah performers, and guests of the Merciful, or that could infringe upon the sanctity of these two holy places. He reaffirmed Malaysia’s respect for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as its appreciation for the close and longstanding fraternal relations between the two countries, emphasizing that the sanctity of the Two Holy Mosques must not be turned into a battleground or a subject for bargaining.
