Kuwaiti Consul in Jeddah Emphasizes Importance of Participation in Gulf Cup 27 and Strengthening Kuwaiti Sports Presence
Jeddah, 20 Sep (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Consul General in Jeddah and Permanent Representative to the Islamic Organization for Cooperation, Yousef Al-Tanib, emphasized on Sunday the importance of participating in the Gulf Cup football tournament (Arabian Gulf Cup 27) and strengthening the presence of Kuwaiti sports in international sporting arenas.
Al-Tanib made these remarks in a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) during a visit to the Kuwaiti national senior football team's camp as they trained at the auxiliary stadium of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah ahead of the tournament, which kicks off next Wednesday. He expressed his wishes for the national team to achieve success and results befitting the stature and history of Kuwaiti football in the competition.
He praised the preparations provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to host the Gulf Cup 27 matches, commending the high level of organizational excellence and the facilities dedicated to welcoming participating teams and delegations, as well as the provision of necessary requirements to ensure the tournament's success.
Al-Tanib expressed his confidence that these efforts would contribute to the tournament's success, given the Kingdom's distinguished capabilities and experience in hosting and organizing major sporting events.
The Kuwaiti national senior football team resumed its training on Sunday at the auxiliary stadium of King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah in preparation for the Gulf Cup football tournament (Arabian Gulf Cup 27), which begins next Wednesday.
The Kuwaiti team is expected to open its campaign in the tournament from the very first day with one of the most prominent matches, facing host nation Saudi Arabia next Wednesday, which is set to give the tournament a strong fan-driven start.
The city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia will host the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup from September 23 to October 6.
Kuwait is participating in Group A, which includes Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Oman, while Group B comprises the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Yemen.
