Ramallah, September 20 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs announced on Sunday that a Palestinian youth was martyred by Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire in the city of Jenin in the West Bank. The authority stated in a press release that it had notified the Palestinian Ministry of Health of the martyrdom of Sami Zawaida, 32, by occupation gunfire and the detention of his body. Palestinian local sources said that occupation forces opened fire on a vehicle and prevented Palestinian ambulance crews from reaching the injured youth, who was then transported in an Israeli vehicle before his martyrdom was declared. The Israeli military said it fired on a Palestinian vehicle, alleging that its driver attempted to run over soldiers, none of whom were injured. The Israeli military and settlers have escalated their aggression against Palestinians in the West Bank. Earlier, on the 7th of the month, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz threatened a “full-scale war” in the West Bank and the displacement and evacuation of Palestinian towns. (End) N.Q. / N.S.A.
