Yemen condemns Houthi militia targeting Riyadh and other Saudi cities

Aden, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni government condemned on Sunday the Houthi militia's launch of a ballistic missile toward the city of Riyadh and its attempts to target civilians and civilian facilities in the Saudi cities of Bisha, Taif, Farsan, and Yanbu.

The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement received by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), affirmed Yemen's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, its leadership, government, and people, and its support for the legitimate measures taken by the Kingdom and the Coalition Supporting Legitimacy to deter aggression and protect the Kingdom's security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The statement noted that these aggressions, along with those carried out in recent days, constitute a violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty and a threat to civilian safety, and represent a continuation of the Houthi escalation in Yemen and threats to international navigation, thereby undermining regional security and stability.

It held the Houthi militia responsible for these aggressions and their consequences, and also held the Iranian regime responsible for its continued military support for the militia, enabling it to continue its aggressions in service of its regional agenda at the expense of Yemen's sovereignty, the interests of its people, and the security of neighboring countries.

The statement emphasized that supporting the Yemeni state and its legitimate institutions and empowering them to extend their authority over all of its territory, coasts, and ports is a cornerstone for protecting Yemen, safeguarding its sovereignty, and preventing the use of its territory as a platform for aggression against neighboring countries and threats to international navigation.

It called on the international community to unify efforts and translate supportive positions into effective actions to enforce the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and disrupt the networks supporting the Houthi militia, thereby limiting its capacity to continue its aggressions.
