Bahrain strongly condemns the escalating Houthi attacks on civilians and civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia

Manama, 19 Sep (KUNA) – The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation on Saturday of the escalating terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia against the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its repeated and deliberate attempts to target civilians and civilian facilities in the capital Riyadh and the cities of Bisha, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, described these actions as a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The Ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its citizens and residents, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter, underscoring that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security.

It commended the efficiency and high readiness of the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces in countering and thwarting these terrorist attacks, and their successful interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward the city of Riyadh.

The Ministry renewed Bahrain’s call on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance to halt the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to hold the perpetrators accountable, and to implement its relevant resolutions, foremost among them Resolution No. 2216.
