Coalition to Support Legitimacy: Intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia towards Riyadh

Riyadh, 19 Sep (KUNA) -- The Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced on Saturday that the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces successfully intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward the city of Riyadh.

The Coalition’s Joint Forces quoted the Coalition’s official spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, as saying, “The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces managed early today to intercept and destroy the missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia toward the capital, Riyadh.”

Al-Maliki clarified that the Houthi militia’s escalation and its continued attempts to target civilians and civilian sites in Riyadh, which is home to more than eight million citizens and residents, confirm its deliberate and repeated, systematic targeting of civilians and civilian sites in what he described as “terrorist and hostile” behavior.

He added that the Houthi militia had attempted to target civilians and civilian sites in the cities of Bisha, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, noting that the air defenses thwarted these hostile attempts.

Al-Maliki affirmed the Coalition leadership’s inherent right to take whatever measures it deems appropriate, in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, to deter the Houthi militia’s behavior.
