German Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund defeats Stuttgart to top the table

Berlin, 19 Sep (KUNA) -- Borussia Dortmund secured a valuable victory on Saturday, defeating host VfB Stuttgart 1-0 in the fourth round of the German Bundesliga. Maximilian Beier scored the only goal of the match in the 70th minute, earning Dortmund three points and lifting their total to 12, which places them at the top of the standings.

In other matches on Saturday, Eintracht Frankfurt drew 2-2 with SC Freiburg, while Mainz 05 defeated Borussia Monchengladbach 4-3. Hamburg beat FC Cologne 2-1, and Werder Bremen won 3-2 against FC Augsburg.

Defending champions Bayern Munich had earlier on Friday recorded a dominant 7-0 victory over Union Berlin, taking their tally to 10 points and temporarily moving to the top of the table before Dortmund’s win on Saturday.

Following Saturday’s matches, Borussia Dortmund leads the standings with 12 points, followed by Bayern Munich and SC Freiburg, each with 10 points.

At the bottom of the table, Paderborn and Union Berlin are tied with one point each, while Borussia Monchengladbach sits last without any points.
