Kuwait Specialized Hospital in Gaza halts patient admissions due to fuel shortage

Gaza - 19 - 9 (KUNA) — The administration of the Kuwaiti Specialized Field Hospital “Shifa Palestine” in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that hospital departments and patient admissions would cease operations, with the exception of the emergency department, starting Sunday due to the halt in fuel supplies necessary for the hospital’s operation.

In a statement, the hospital administration explained that the interruption in fuel supplies is hindering the operation of various departments and medical services, while the emergency department will continue to function in the coming period.

The administration called, according to the statement, for a protest against the Israeli occupation’s blockage of fuel supplies required to run the hospital, and the direct threat this poses to the continuity of healthcare services provided to patients.

The healthcare sector across the Strip is suffering from a shortage of energy and alternative power generators for electricity production, which has led to the shutdown of more than twenty hospitals and health centers. (End) W.A.B. / F.A.S.
