Premier League: Brighton defeat leaders Arsenal 3-0

London, 19 Sep (KUNA) -- Arsenal, the English Premier League leaders, suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 3-0 to hosts Brighton in a match played on Saturday as part of the fifth round of the competition.

The home side ended the first half leading 2-0, with Germany’s Pascal Gross scoring the first goal in the 31st minute before his teammate, Greece’s Charalampos Lykogiannis, added the second in the 45th minute.

Twelve minutes into the second half, Spain’s Chema Andrés sealed the result with a third goal, securing three valuable points for his team.

In other matches played on Saturday in the same round, Tottenham Hotspur continued their shaky start, recording a third defeat, this time at home and in front of their own fans, losing 2-3 to Aston Villa. Everton won 1-0 against visitors Ipswich Town, while Newcastle United defeated visitors Hull City 2-1.
