Kuwaiti Olympic Committee President praises opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games in Japan

Kuwait - 19 - 9 (KUNA) -- Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, praised the distinguished presentation of the opening ceremony of the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026), held at Meizho Park Stadium in Nagoya, Japan.

In a press statement, Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah affirmed that the ceremony reflected a high level of excellence and organizational readiness commensurate with the scale and importance of this continental sporting event.

He expressed hope that the participation of Kuwaiti athletes would be crowned with success and that the sons and daughters of Kuwait would deliver strong performances reflecting their excellent preparation and meeting the aspirations of the Kuwaiti sports community.

The 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) officially commenced on Saturday in Nagoya, Japan, with the participation of more than 11,000 male and female athletes representing 45 countries, competing in 43 different sports. The Games will continue until October 4.

Kuwaitian sports are making a notable presence at the Games with a delegation of 120 male and female athletes competing in 16 diverse sports, including shooting, athletics, football, golf, modern pentathlon, fencing, pickleball, sport climbing, karate, equestrian, squash, jiu-jitsu, swimming, handball, padel, and sailing.
