Egyptian Foreign Ministry: Monitoring the situation of Egyptian sailors aboard a ship shelled southwest of Russia

Cairo, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation confirmed on Friday that it is monitoring the repercussions of the bombing incident that struck the ship “Nouran” near a port in southwestern Russia on September 13. In a statement, the ministry said that Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty directed the Egyptian Embassy in Moscow to follow up on the incident’s repercussions and provide all forms of consular support and assistance to the Egyptian sailors aboard the vessel. The statement clarified that the embassy successfully facilitated the return of eight Egyptian sailors who had been on board to Egypt. It added that Abdelatty instructed the ministry’s consular sector to maintain contact and follow up with the family of the Egyptian captain, whose death on board was confirmed, and to keep them informed of the efforts undertaken by the Egyptian Embassy in Moscow to recover the body and transport it to Egypt, as soon as the situation stabilizes in the area where the ship is located, which is witnessing military operations.
