Qatar rejects media reports linked to the occupation regarding humanitarian aid provided to the Palestinian people
Doha, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- The Qatar International Media Office expressed Qatar’s firm rejection of false reports circulating in media outlets affiliated with the Israeli occupation regarding Qatari humanitarian aid provided to the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, affirming that the allegations contained therein are entirely baseless.
In a statement issued on Friday, the office noted that “the repetition of these allegations by figures in the Israeli far-right and political personalities comes within the context of continuous attempts to distort Qatar’s role and divert attention from domestic political failures by dragging Qatar’s name into Israeli political debates.”
The office affirmed that “Qatar has never provided funds to Hamas at any time, and its support has been directed toward the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, particularly the most vulnerable families, to provide basic needs such as food, medicine, fuel, and electricity.”
It clarified that “these aid items have been delivered through clear and transparent mechanisms, in full coordination with the United Nations and Israeli authorities. Under previous aid mechanisms, all financial assistance, as well as food, medicine, and fuel, passed through Israel before entering the Gaza Strip. Qatar did not directly handle the delivery process; rather, United Nations organizations undertook this task in coordination with Israeli authorities.”
The office pointed out that “Qatari aid has enjoyed the awareness, support, and approval of successive Israeli governments over the years, with the participation of their security agencies within known and documented mechanisms among all concerned parties.” In this context, it emphasized that “any funds that may have reached Hamas outside these mechanisms have no connection whatsoever to Qatar or its humanitarian aid.”
The office highlighted that “Qatar has been subjected for several years to a systematic campaign to tarnish its reputation, involving media outlets sympathetic to Israel, pressure groups, lawyers, research centers, and entities presenting themselves as research institutions.”
It added that with “the approach of elections in Israel, this campaign has seen a noticeable escalation, as some political parties attempt to exploit Qatar’s name in internal debates and divert attention from their own failures.”
The office also affirmed that “while Qatar does not interfere in Israel’s internal affairs, it firmly rejects having its name dragged into or false allegations used against it to achieve domestic political objectives.”
It stressed that “these campaigns and misleading allegations will not deter Qatar from continuing its humanitarian support to the brotherly Palestinian people, especially in light of the catastrophic humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. Qatar will continue its efforts, in cooperation with its international partners, to ensure the sustainable and uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to the Strip.”
The office renewed Qatar’s commitment to continuing mediation and diplomatic efforts aimed at consolidating a ceasefire and achieving just and sustainable peace.
It is worth noting that the Qatar International Media Office was established by an emiri decree issued in 2023, tasked with clarifying facts and highlighting Qatar’s achievements, priorities, and initiatives to the global public across various fields. The office is also responsible for enhancing media relations with various regional and international media outlets, issuing press releases on foreign affairs topics, and responding to inquiries from journalists and international media.
