Bahrain condemns attack on mosque in Pakistan

Manama, Sept 18 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation on Friday of the heinous attack targeting a mosque in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, which resulted in the deaths and injuries of several individuals.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed in a statement "the Kingdom's steadfast position rejecting all forms of violence, extremism, and terrorism, as well as the targeting of places of worship and the terrorization of innocent, safe civilians."

The ministry extended Bahrain's sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, as well as to the Government and people of Pakistan, and wished the injured a speedy recovery. It reaffirmed its solidarity with Pakistan in its efforts to maintain security and stability and combat terrorism and extremism.

Earlier in the day, Pakistani police announced that a suicide bomber targeted a mosque within a police facility in the city of Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, during Friday prayers, which were being performed by worshippers, including security personnel and their families.
