Kuwait - 18 - 9 (KUNA) - September 18, 1990 - The State of Kuwait requests the United Nations General Assembly to include a new agenda item concerning Iraq's invasion and occupation of its territory in the agenda of its annual session.

1996 - Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah passes away at the age of 96. He was the first Minister of Education in the first government in 1962. Prior to that, he held several positions, including Head of the Courts in 1928, Head of the Municipality Department in 1932, Head of the Board of Education in 1936, and Head of the Endowments Department in 1948. He subsequently held several ministerial posts, and in 1965, he was appointed as a special advisor to the Amir of the country.

2001 - Kuwait and Japan agree to terminate the concession and exploration rights granted to the Arab Oil Company in the Shared Offshore Area since 1958, effective January 4, 2003.

2017 - The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development signs a loan agreement with the Kingdom of Eswatini for four million Kuwaiti dinars to contribute to financing the second phase of an irrigation project.

2020 - U.S. President Donald Trump awards Kuwaiti Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah the Military Merit Medal at the rank of Commander in Chief, in recognition of his efforts and significant role in resolving regional and international disputes.

2021 - Former Minister of Oil Abdulmattalib Al-Kazimi passes away at the age of 84. He was the first Minister of Oil in Kuwait during the period from 1975 to 1978.

2022 - Kuwaiti Health Insurance Hospitals Company (Tameen) announces the signing of a contract for the management and operation of its medical services with the Spanish company (Ribera Salud) as part of its preparations to launch its healthcare system.

2023 - Kuwaiti candidate Dr. Talal Al-Bazali wins the position of Vice President of the World Petroleum Council (WPC) for the period between 2023 and 2026, in elections held on the sidelines of the 24th session of the Council in Calgary, Canada.

2025 - Kuwait Oil Company announces the start of commercial production at the Matriba oil field located in the northwest of the country, contributing to enhancing Kuwait's position on the global production map.
