Saudi and Qatari Interior Ministers Discuss Security and Military Cooperation in Riyadh

Riyadh - 17 - 9 (KUNA) -- Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud and Qatari Interior Minister and Commander of the As-Sayliyah Security Force, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad, discussed on Thursday the aspects of security and military cooperation and coordination between the two countries and ways to enhance it, in addition to a number of issues of mutual interest.

The Saudi Ministry of Interior stated in a statement that following the meeting held in Riyadh, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud and Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad chaired the fourth meeting of the Security and Military Committee established under the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council.

The statement added that the committee reviewed the achievements and joint initiatives realized, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in security and military fields, as well as continuing the implementation of agreed-upon initiatives that serve the common interests of both countries.

During the meeting, Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud emphasized the importance of doubling efforts and strengthening joint cooperation and coordination, particularly in addressing regional and international challenges, contributing to realizing the aspirations of the leadership and peoples of both countries for greater security, stability, and prosperity.

He noted that the agreements reached during the eighth meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council, held in Riyadh under the chairmanship of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad, reflect the close historical ties between the two countries and support the paths of cooperation between them in various fields, especially in the security and military domains.

According to the statement, the two sides signed the minutes of the fourth meeting of the Security and Military Committee established under the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council at the conclusion of the meeting. (End)
