Brussels, 17 Sep (KUNA) -- The European Union strongly condemned on Thursday the Houthi militia attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the attack targeting the holy city of Makkah.
European Union spokesperson Anwar Anouni affirmed in a statement the EU's full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, noting that the Houthi attacks target civilians and civilian infrastructure, "which is unacceptable."
He added that the Houthi attacks undermine the prospects for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Yemen and "also contribute to the deterioration of regional security."
The EU reiterated its call on the Houthi militia to "cease all military operations" and reaffirmed its firm commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and their government.
The EU pledged to continue working with the United Nations, regional partners, and the international community to de-escalate tensions and achieve a comprehensive and sustainable peace that includes all parties in Yemen. (End) ARN / SAM
