Bahrain strongly condemns the continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the targeting of civilians in Taif

Manama, 17 Sep (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation on Thursday of the continued terrorist attacks carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia against the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The attacks targeted the Taif Governorate with a drone; after it was intercepted and destroyed, falling debris resulted in the death of a resident, injuries to a Saudi citizen and another resident, and material damage to several buildings and vehicles.

In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter, and relevant Security Council resolutions.

The ministry affirmed Bahrain’s full solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its complete support for all measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect its citizens and residents, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. It underscored that the security and stability of Saudi Arabia are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security.

Bahrain extended its sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the family and relatives of the deceased resident, who was of Yemeni nationality, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated Bahrain’s call on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take a firm stance to halt the repeated Houthi terrorist attacks targeting civilians and civilian objects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to hold the perpetrators accountable, and to implement its relevant resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 and Resolution 2817, which calls for the cessation of the use of proxies, thereby contributing to the preservation of regional and international security and stability.
