Indian Prime Minister calls for harnessing capabilities to build an "integrated ecosystem" for semiconductors

New Delhi - 17 - 9 (KUNA) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Thursday for global companies and investors to harness the "enormous potential" of his country to build an "integrated" ecosystem for semiconductors and electronic chips.

He made the remarks in a speech delivered at the opening of the "Semicon India 2026" conference and exhibition in New Delhi, attended by several senior executives and leaders of the semiconductor sector from within India and abroad. Modi noted that the country's semiconductor ecosystem is experiencing "rapid expansion," opening new horizons for innovation, investment, and growth.

Modi also urged young talents conducting research within India and abroad to take the initiative to join efforts to develop advanced technologies in the country, leveraging the engineering base and intensive skill-development initiatives specifically designed for the field of electronic chip design.

Addressing the critical issue of energy security for high-performance computing systems, Modi outlined the massive energy requirements of artificial intelligence data centers and the necessity of providing continuous power supplies to factories. He highlighted the country's significant expansion in the energy sector, including a surge in solar power generation capacity to exceed 160 gigawatts, the opening of the nuclear energy sector to private participation, and the development of small, advanced nuclear reactors.
