Chest Diseases Hospital organizes awareness event on World Patient Safety Day

Kuwait, Sept 17 (KUNA) -- The Chest Diseases Hospital at the Hisham Al-Saqer Heart Center organized an awareness event to mark World Patient Safety Day, observed annually on September 17, underscoring the importance of embedding safety practices across all stages of healthcare delivery.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Health said the event, held this year under the theme “Safe Care for Life,” highlighted the safety of care provided to patients with non-communicable and chronic diseases, including heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and respiratory conditions, given the need for continuous follow-up and coordination among specialties and different levels of care.

According to the statement, event organizers emphasized the importance of strengthening shared awareness among patients and healthcare providers of safety principles, particularly for patients with chronic diseases, through adherence to accurate and safe diagnosis, safe medication use, reduction of preventable medical errors, and promotion of effective communication between patients and their care teams.

The event is part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to instill a culture of patient safety, enhance the quality of healthcare services, and strengthen partnerships with patients and their families, thereby supporting continuity of care and achieving optimal health outcomes.

Participants in the event included the hospital’s director, Dr. Salah Al-Shaigi; the head of the Medical Authority, Dr. Jamal Al-Fadli; representatives from medical, technical, and administrative departments; and a number of healthcare providers.
