Rabat, September 17 (KUNA) -- The Islamic World Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO) today, Thursday, strongly condemned an attempt by the Houthi militia to target Mecca with a drone, describing it as a serious escalation and a blatant disregard for the sanctity of the holiest sites for Muslims worldwide.
In a statement, ISESCO Director-General Salem Al-Malik said that targeting the holy city and endangering its residents and visitors constitutes “a heinous crime and an egregious assault that demands international action to halt these attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable.”
Al-Malik reaffirmed ISESCO’s steadfast position of full support for Saudi Arabia in the measures and steps it is taking to protect the security of the Two Holy Mosques and safeguard the safety of their pilgrims, as well as citizens and residents within the kingdom.
Earlier, the Joint Forces Command of the coalition announced that the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed an enemy drone launched by the Houthi militia last Tuesday, which had attempted to enter the airspace of Mecca. (End) M.R.Y./F.L.A.
