U.S. Vice President: The world will face an energy crisis if the United States withdraws from the Middle East

Washington – 16 – 9 (KUNA) – U.S. Vice President JD Vance defended again on Wednesday President Donald Trump’s decision to wage war against Iran, citing the need to safeguard energy markets and protect U.S. interests in the Middle East.

In an interview with the American program “All-In Podcast,” Vance stated, “The world would have been plunged into an energy crisis had the United States not confronted Iran, or if it had decided to withdraw from the region while Iranian attacks on shipping continued.”

He added, “I say to anyone who is frustrated right now that the alternative is for the United States to effectively tell the Middle East, ‘You’re on your own.’ That would inevitably lead to a global energy crisis as long as the Iranians continue to target maritime navigation, which we know for certain they will do.”

Vance emphasized that the fighting will continue as long as Iran persists in targeting ships, stressing that President Trump has taken the right course by protecting U.S. interests in the region while ensuring the continued flow of oil and natural gas supplies to global energy markets.

Washington launched “Operation Economic Outcast” on August 24, a campaign aimed at cutting off the financial and commercial channels on which Iran relies and tightening sanctions on entities that help it circumvent sanctions or generate revenue. The campaign includes expanding secondary sanctions, threatening entities that continue to deal with Iran with exclusion from access to the dollar-based financial system.
