India rejects joint border committee between Pakistan and China

New Delhi, 16 Sep (KUNA) -- The Indian government strongly rejected on Wednesday the activation of the Joint Boundary Commission between Pakistan and China.

Randeer Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, stated in a press briefing, “We have taken note of reports on this matter. Our position on this issue is clear and consistent: there is no shared border between Pakistan and China. We reject the so-called Joint Boundary Commission as it lacks any legal basis.”

He affirmed that all territories in the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh “have been, are, and will always remain an integral part of India,” emphasizing that “Pakistan does not possess the legal standing to enter into arrangements concerning Indian territories under its illegal and forcible occupation.”

The spokesperson reiterated that India “considers any alleged border cooperation between China and Pakistan involving Indian territories to be completely unacceptable and will have no impact whatsoever on India’s sovereignty over these territories.”

Earlier today, Beijing and Islamabad announced the activation of the Joint Boundary Commission between the two countries during a meeting of their representatives at the headquarters of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
