(Central Bank): Economic data reflect the soundness and resilience of monetary and financial stability in the State of Kuwait

Kuwait - 16 - 9 (KUNA) -- The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) confirmed on Wednesday that its current assessment of the available local economic and financial data and information reflects the soundness and resilience of monetary and financial stability in the State of Kuwait, and that monetary trends are consistent with the local economic conditions.

This statement was issued by the Bank as part of its continuous monitoring of the evolution of key global economic and monetary variables and geopolitical developments, and their potential implications for the performance of the local economy.

The CBK clarified that the latest monetary and banking data indicate an increase of approximately 1.9 percent in the broad money supply (M2) in July last month compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.

It added that the balance of resident deposits with local banks recorded an increase of approximately 9.8 percent, while the balance of credit facilities to residents rose by approximately 4.8 percent in July 2026 compared to the corresponding month of 2025. In this regard, it noted that the current discount rate stands at 3.5 percent.

The Central Bank of Kuwait reaffirmed its continuous and close monitoring of global and local economic and monetary developments, ensuring the adoption of necessary measures through the deployment of available monetary policy tools and macroprudential instruments in a gradual, balanced, and flexible manner, thereby reinforcing monetary and financial stability in the State of Kuwait.
