Bahraini Minister of Education: Artificial Intelligence Enhances Educational Quality and Boosts Student Readiness for the Future
Manama, 16 Sep (KUNA) - Bahraini Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Juma, emphasized on Wednesday the need to focus on leveraging modern technologies and artificial intelligence, and developing educational systems based on innovation and problem-solving, to enhance the quality of education and improve students' readiness for future requirements.
He made these remarks in a speech delivered while chairing the 10th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of Education of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Education from the GCC countries, including Kuwaiti Minister of Education, Engineer Sayed Jalal Al-Taptibai, and the Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Development Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat, Khalid Al-Sanadi.
Minister Al-Juma underscored the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation among GCC member states in the educational field, exchanging expertise and successful experiences, keeping pace with changes and developments in the education sector, and utilizing modern technologies and artificial intelligence.
For his part, Al-Sanadi stated in his address during the meeting that education represents one of the deepest and most impactful pathways of Gulf integration, given its role in building human capital, reinforcing identity, developing skills, and enhancing competitiveness and innovation.
He noted that the educational system in the GCC member states includes approximately 10.9 million male and female students, more than 940,000 male and female teachers, and around 44,500 educational institutions.
The meeting's agenda included a consultative session for the ministers, during which they exchanged views and coordinated perspectives on the most prominent issues, challenges, and future opportunities facing the educational systems in the GCC member states, thereby reinforcing pathways of cooperation and integration in the educational field.
Several items on the agenda were also discussed, alongside monitoring the implementation of decisions and recommendations issued by the previous ninth session, and exploring ways to enhance joint Gulf efforts in educational and pedagogical fields to keep pace with the rapid developments in the education sector and support the GCC member states' efforts to develop their educational systems.
The meeting yielded qualitative recommendations and decisions aimed at supporting Gulf educational policies and promoting comprehensive educational advancement through the exchange of distinguished expertise, keeping pace with the requirements of the digital age and artificial intelligence, and strengthening integration pathways in educational programs.
It also affirmed the need to enhance the role of the Arab Office for Education in the Gulf States to effectively support Gulf educational efforts, alongside continuing work to formulate the Gulf Strategy for Education for the years 2026-2030 and advancing the development of technical education and vocational training.
