Cairo, September 16 (KUNA) -- The President of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed Al-Yamahi, today Wednesday, condemned the Houthi militia’s attempt to target Mecca with a drone, calling for a firm international response to deter such attacks and hold those responsible accountable. In a statement, Al-Yamahi emphasized that the attempt to target the holy lands constitutes a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of the sanctity of Mecca and its revered status in the consciousness of the Islamic ummah, as well as a provocation of the feelings of millions of Muslims worldwide. He stated that targeting Mecca, given its global religious and humanitarian significance, exceeds in its severity the boundaries of an attack on the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, representing an infringement on the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and a threat to the security and safety of the guests of Allah (Hajj and Umrah pilgrims), thereby necessitating a clear and firm international stance to prevent the recurrence of such attacks. He stressed that the Houthi militia’s continued targeting of Saudi territory and its civilian infrastructure also demands an urgent and effective international response to halt these attacks, hold the perpetrators accountable, and confront their sources of funding. He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its steadfast support alongside the Kingdom in confronting all threats to its security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and holy sites, as well as its backing of the measures being taken to protect Mecca and the pilgrims visiting the Sacred House of Allah.
