Lebanon condemns attempt to target Mecca

Beirut, Sept 16 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned on Wednesday an attempt to target the holy city of Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia using a drone launched by the Houthi group. In a statement, Salam described the act as a “disregard for the sanctity of Mecca and its status in the eyes of Muslims around the world.” He added, “Such actions not only threaten the security and sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, but also contribute to destabilizing the security and stability of the entire region.” Salam reaffirmed Lebanon’s full solidarity with the Kingdom, both in leadership and among its people, and Lebanon’s steadfast support alongside it in confronting any aggression against its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
