Cairo, September 16 (KUNA) -- Egypt announced on Wednesday the repatriation of an ancient golden mummy mask from Switzerland, as part of ongoing efforts to recover Egyptian antiquities that were removed through illicit means. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Egyptian Ambassador to Bern, Mohamed Nagm, received the artifact from Swiss authorities on behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Badr Abdelatty. The statement highlighted the close and growing cooperation between Egypt and Switzerland in various fields, foremost among them the protection of cultural property and the fight against the illicit trafficking of antiquities. In this context, it reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to enhancing coordination and exchanging expertise in this field, and to combating smuggling and illegal trade in antiquities, thereby contributing to the preservation and protection of cultural and civilizational heritage from all forms of exploitation and illegal trafficking.
