Minister of Youth and Sports Honors 25 Students Who Completed the Training Program of the Athar Initiative
Kuwait City, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- State Minister for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma honored 25 Kuwaiti students who successfully completed the “Athar” initiative, launched by the Kuwait Investment Companies Union with the aim of empowering students, preparing them for the workforce, and building a direct bridge between them and investment firms.
Speaking to KUNA after the ceremony, Minister Al-Jalahma stated that the “Athar” initiative exemplifies a distinctive model of partnership between the private sector and Kuwaiti youth. He noted that the initiative contributes to providing a training and preparatory environment that helps students acquire the necessary skills and experience for their academic and professional careers.
He added that directly connecting students with investment firms opens new horizons for them to understand the nature of work in the financial and investment sectors and to benefit from national expertise and competencies. He emphasized that such initiatives contribute to preparing a generation capable of keeping pace with labor market demands.
Minister Al-Jalahma praised the efforts of the Kuwait Investment Companies Union in launching the initiative and supporting Kuwaiti students, underscoring the importance of continued cooperation between state institutions and the private sector in implementing programs and initiatives focused on developing youth capabilities and enabling their active participation in development.
He stressed that investing in youth is an investment in Kuwait’s future, noting that the “Athar” initiative aligns with the objectives of “Kuwait Vision 2035” in empowering youth and preparing national cadres. He extended his congratulations to the 25 students, wishing them continued success, the realization of their ambitions, and meaningful contributions to serving their country.
For his part, Abdullah Al-Turki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Investment Companies Union, said in a statement that the “Athar” initiative comes within the framework of the Union’s commitment to supporting, empowering, and preparing Kuwaiti youth for the labor market through training programs that combine theoretical and practical aspects. He explained that the initiative selected a group of students from various Kuwaiti universities with the aim of developing their skills and familiarizing them with the nature of work in the investment sector.
Al-Turki stated that the students underwent an intensive six-week training program covering various topics and skills designed to enhance their capabilities and prepare them for the practical phase, allowing them to benefit from specialized expertise in investment firms.
He added that the second phase of the initiative consisted of a field program hosted by Arzan Financial, Al-Safwa Investment, Tharwa Investment, KAMCO Invest, and Noor Investment. These companies provided participating students with the opportunity to closely observe the work environment, learn about various aspects of the investment sector, and apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training program.
Al-Turki expressed his appreciation to the participating companies for their support and hosting of the students, emphasizing that “Athar” reflects the importance of integrating private sector efforts in investing in youth potential and building a generation of qualified national cadres capable of contributing to the development of the national economy and achieving the objectives of “Kuwait Vision 2035.” (End) S.A.D. / M.A.A.
