France sends 5 tons of humanitarian aid to Nepal

Paris, 15 Sep (KUNA) -- France announced on Tuesday that it is sending five tonnes of first-aid supplies and medicines to Nepal in response to the needs declared by the authorities in Kathmandu.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that this emergency shipment aims to assist more than 1,000 people affected by the devastating floods and landslides that struck Nepal and China on August 26, resulting in significant loss of life.

The ministry noted in this context that four French nationals remain missing, adding, "We are continuing our efforts to locate them and remain in contact with their families."

It added that France has also mobilized aid for the Nepal Red Cross, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and French non-governmental organizations operating on the ground, in coordination with local authorities.

The ministry clarified that this aid is intended to provide emergency support, including shelter, water, healthcare, and the restoration of basic services for the victims of this disaster, "particularly mothers and children." (End)
