Lebanon: Prosecutor General of the Court of Cassation hands over the "substantive opinion" to the investigating judge in the Beirut port explosion case

Beirut - 15 - 9 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's National News Agency reported that Lebanon's Attorney General, Judge Mohammad Saab, met on Tuesday with the investigating judge in the Beirut Port explosion case, Judge Tarek Bitar, to hand over the "substantive opinion" prepared by the Court of Cassation's Public Prosecution. The agency noted that the opinion spans 270 large-format pages and outlines the Court of Cassation's Public Prosecution's demands regarding the comprehensive investigations conducted in the explosion case. This judicial step is part of completing the legal procedures and the final stages of the judicial investigation into the catastrophic explosion that struck the Beirut Port on August 4, 2020, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and injuries and widespread destruction in the Lebanese capital.
