Kuwait City, 15 September (KUNA) – The Public Authority for Combating Corruption (Nazaha) participated in the preparatory virtual sessions to discuss draft resolutions to be presented at the ninth meeting of the Open-Ended General Committee of Governmental Experts and Representatives of Independent Bodies of States Parties to the Arab Convention on Combating Corruption, held via videoconference in coordination with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.

Nazaha said in a press statement on Tuesday that this meeting paves the way for the sixth session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Arab Convention on Combating Corruption, scheduled to take place in Doha from 21 to 23 September.

It added that the meeting addressed a number of draft resolutions to be presented at the sixth session of the Conference of the States Parties, including the draft resolution submitted by Kuwait on “Enhancing Beneficial Ownership Transparency and Identifying the Ultimate Beneficial Owners of Legal Entities and Legal Arrangements,” which was prepared by Nazaha.

The Nazaha delegation outlined Kuwait’s efforts to enhance beneficial ownership transparency and presented the foundations and contents of the draft resolution to the representatives of the States Parties. The session witnessed active engagement from delegations, with participants exchanging observations and proposals regarding the draft resolution.

The delegation also expressed its readiness to continue consultations with its Arab counterparts in the period leading up to the session, to ensure the formulation of a text that achieves consensus and responds to the priorities of all States Parties.

Nazaha’s participation in these sessions reflects Kuwait’s commitment to making an active contribution to shaping common Arab policies in the fields of preventing and combating corruption, and to strengthening cooperation and the exchange of expertise among Arab counterpart agencies, thereby serving the optimal implementation of the provisions of the Arab Convention on Combating Corruption.
