Kuwait City, September 15 (KUNA) — The Ministry of Interior has urged citizens and residents, particularly travelers, not to transport any luggage, bags, parcels, containers, or packages belonging to others into or out of the country, in order to prevent their good faith from being exploited by drug and psychotropic substance traffickers.

In a press statement, the Ministry said that drug traffickers may employ various methods of concealment and use others to smuggle prohibited substances through border crossings, exposing the carriers to legal accountability. It stressed that individuals should not respond to any requests to transport items for others, regardless of the justifications or the relationship with the person handing them over.

The Ministry explained that competent authorities managed to apprehend three travelers in separate cases upon their arrival in the country, after drugs and psychotropic substances were found hidden inside medicine containers in their possession.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspects had received these containers from individuals outside Kuwait with the aim of delivering them to persons inside the country. The suspects had deliberately concealed the true nature of the contents and misled the carriers into believing they contained medicine. Inspection procedures, however, uncovered that the containers held drugs and psychotropic substances.

The Ministry noted that the suspects and the seized items have been referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal actions against them and to continue investigations to uncover all circumstances of the cases and identify all individuals involved. (End) H.M.D. / N.W.
