Madrid, September 15 (KUNA) -- UEFA announced on Tuesday its selection of Barcelona’s Spotify Camp Nou stadium to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final, a decision that returns Europe’s most important club match to the Barcelona venue after 30 years. In a statement on its official website, UEFA said its Executive Committee, meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, chose Spotify Camp Nou to host the 2029 final. The statement noted that the 2028 final will be held at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena in Germany, while Atlético Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium will host this season’s final in 2027. Barcelona had submitted a hosting bid in cooperation with the city municipality and the government of Catalonia, with the support of the Spanish Football Federation. The stadium is undergoing a comprehensive redevelopment as part of the Espai Barça project, which will make it one of the largest football stadiums in Europe upon completion. This will be the third time Camp Nou hosts the continental final, having previously done so in 1989 and 1999. (End) H.N.D./F.L.A.
