Lithuanian Foreign Minister: NATO Shoots Down Drone That Breached Lithuanian Airspace

Brussels, Sept 15 (KUNA) – Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys announced on Tuesday that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) shot down a drone that had breached Lithuanian airspace, coming from Belarus on Monday. In a post on the X platform, Budrys expressed his gratitude to the Alliance, which “stood vigilant, committed, and ready,” reflecting the strength of NATO’s collective defense. He stated that the response to the drone that violated Lithuanian airspace demonstrated the Alliance’s strength, adding that its presence “protects the skies of the Baltic states and enhances regional security.” NATO fighter jets shot down the drone that entered Lithuanian airspace on Monday evening, less than 24 hours after NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte confirmed that strikes occurring near Alliance territory would prompt the transatlantic organization to increase its support for Ukraine.
