Moscow, September 15 (KUNA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday the commencement of military exercises with the Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces, which will run until September 18 and focus on force management during a strategic operation of the armed forces. In a statement, the ministry said the exercises aim to train the operational command bodies, formations, and military units to work jointly in carrying out tasks related to the preparation and conduct of a strategic operation. It added that the exercises are of an “exclusively defensive” nature and aim to enhance the forces’ capability to defend the state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The exercises gain added significance amid the tense security environment in Eastern Europe, against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war. (End) D.A.N./M.Kh.
