US Treasury Secretary Calls for Reporting Entities Supporting Iran

Washington, Sept. 14 (KUNA) — U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent issued a call on Monday for the submission of information to the Treasury Department regarding entities supporting the Iranian regime, aiming to facilitate the implementation of measures under the “Economic Outcast” campaign announced last month against Iran.

In a post on the social media platform X, Bessent said, “The U.S. Treasury Department has launched the Economic Outcast operation to cut off all financial support lifelines to the Iranian regime and its backers.” He added, “For this reason, I have issued a new call for whistleblowers to provide information on entities that facilitate Iran’s terrorist activities.”

He continued, “To anyone in the world who possesses information about these financial lifelines: this is your opportunity. If you have information that the Treasury Department can use and act upon, you may be eligible for a reward, regardless of where you reside or who pays your salary. If you see something, report it.”

The United States launched the “Economic Outcast” operation on August 24, aiming “to cut off every economic lifeline that sustains the Iranian regime,” targeting sectors such as digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and maritime shipping, according to Bessent’s statement at the time. (End)
