Danish Prime Minister Expresses Optimism Over Potential Peaceful Resolution of Greenland Dispute

Brussels, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen expressed optimism on Monday about the possibility of Denmark, the United States, and Greenland reaching a peaceful resolution to their dispute over the future of the self-governing territory that is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Speaking to journalists after a meeting of European Union leaders and officials in northern Finland, Frederiksen said, “I am quite optimistic that a way forward can be found, and I believe we are already seeing very clear signs and indications. I hope we will find a peaceful way forward.” She added that during the Arctic security summit in the Finnish city of Rovaniemi, the high-level working group comprising representatives from Denmark, the United States, and Greenland continued its work, expressing hope that the talks would contribute to settling the dispute.
