Missile attack targets several areas in Sulaymaniyah Governorate; no casualties

Erbil, Sept 14 (KUNA) -- The Asayish security directorate in the Kurdistan Region announced on Monday that areas in Sulaymaniyah Governorate came under a missile attack, with no casualties reported. In a statement, the directorate said that five missiles targeted areas in Sirwan District and Qara Dag District, noting that no human losses resulted from the attacks. The government stated in a report that civilian sites, citizens’ property, and the private sector in the region were subjected to a series of attacks throughout the period mentioned “under various unsubstantiated pretexts.” Reports indicated that the Kurdistan Region ranks first in terms of the scale of human and material losses among countries involved in the military conflict in the region. Since the outbreak of the conflict, several countries and governments have consistently condemned these attacks, and the regional government has repeatedly called for punishing those responsible and putting an end to “unjustified transgressions and violations of the sovereignty of Kurdistan and all of Iraq.” The toll of missile and drone strikes targeting various areas within the region, from the escalation of security tensions in late February until April 20, amounted to 20 deaths and 123 injuries.
