German League: Bayern Munich defeats Elversberg 2-1
Berlin, Sept 13 (KUNA) -- Defending champions Bayern Munich secured a 2-1 victory over host Elversberg on Sunday to conclude the third round of the German football Bundesliga.
Lennart Karl opened the scoring for Bayern in the 26th minute before Maurice Krattenmacher equalized for Elversberg in the 61st. Bayern regained the lead in the 72nd minute through a goal by Harry Kane, securing the win for the Bavarian side and earning them three more points.
In another match on Sunday, Leipzig recorded a convincing 5-0 victory over Hamburg.
With the conclusion of the third round, Freiburg tops the table with nine points, ahead on goal difference of Borussia Dortmund, who also have nine points. Augsburg sit in third place with seven points, while Bayern Munich are fourth, also on seven points. (End)
