Kuwait Olympic Committee member Abdullah Shaaban appointed Vice President of the Athletes' Committee at the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation

Jeddah, September 13 (KUNA) -- Abdullah Shaaban, head of the Athletes Committee and member of the board of directors of the Kuwait Olympic Committee, has been elected vice president of the Athletes Committee of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation for the new term (2026–2029). The Kuwait Olympic Committee announced on its official X account on Sunday that this result came from elections held on the sidelines of the 15th General Assembly of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, which took place in Taif, Saudi Arabia. Consequently, Shaaban will join the federation’s board of directors for the new term. The committee clarified that the 15th General Assembly concluded its work by endorsing Prince Abdulaziz Al Faisal as president of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation for the 2026–2029 term, and by endorsing Prince Fahd bin Jalawi as vice president representing the host country. It further noted that Nawal El Moutawakel was endorsed as vice president, representing Africa and Latin America, and Gennady Golovkin was endorsed as vice president, representing Asia and Europe. The General Assembly also endorsed all candidates for the new board of directors, with representatives from 57 member states of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation participating.
