Indian Prime Minister: New Delhi Declaration Charts a Path for Cooperation Among BRICS Nations
New Delhi, Sept 13 (KUNA) -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that the New Delhi Declaration, adopted during the 18th BRICS Summit, charts a clear course for a shared vision and future cooperation, coinciding with India’s handover of the group’s presidency to China.
Modi, speaking at a BRICS session on “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability,” emphasized that the group is not merely a coalition of states but an integrated system for solutions. He noted that discussions held over the past two days, involving global leaders, had reinforced this conviction.
He expressed hope that all summit outcomes would be translated into specific, time-bound actions delivering tangible results, urging member states to work together to ensure that BRICS moves beyond theoretical documentation to achieve real-world impact. This is particularly important as the world expects concrete results from the group, which is preparing to enter its third decade.
In his opening address, Modi praised the summit as a platform bringing together continents, cultures, and diverse development pathways, and thanked all BRICS member states and partner countries for their efforts that contributed to the summit’s success.
He pointed out that the pillars of resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability formed the four key areas India focused on during its presidency, noting that mutual cooperation and support had contributed to gains for all.
Modi added that pandemics, climate disasters, and supply chain disruptions had demonstrated that in today’s interconnected world, no crisis is confined to a single geographic region, underscoring the group’s special focus on enhancing resilience. He stressed the importance of timely identification of challenges, preparedness, and immediate action.
Under the innovation pillar, he said the BRICS Business Incubators Network would connect startups and incubators across member countries. India had also proposed the establishment of a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to promote scalable and innovative solutions.
