Director General of Manpower: Kuwait's participation in the Arab Labour Conference reflects a commitment to supporting cooperation on labour issues
Cairo, September 13 (KUNA) -- The Director General of the Public Authority for Manpower, Engineer Rabab Al-Asimi, emphasized the importance of Kuwait’s participation in the 52nd session of the Arab Labour Conference in Cairo, describing it as a vital platform for exchanging expertise and enhancing cooperation on labour and employment issues and human resource development.
In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Sunday while chairing Kuwait’s delegation to the conference, Al-Asimi said the participation underscores Kuwait’s commitment to supporting the trajectory of joint Arab labour efforts and contributing to the development of labour market policies in line with rapid economic and technological transformations.
She added that the conference, organized by the Arab Labour Organization from September 13 to 20, represents an important opportunity for Arab countries to exchange experiences and expertise, and to discuss common challenges facing labour markets and ways to enhance employment opportunities and reduce unemployment.
Al-Asimi noted that the current session focuses on the theme “Sustainable Economic Growth: Toward Inclusive and Equitable Social Development in Arab Countries,” a topic directly linked to the future of labour markets and the need to balance the requirements of economic growth with social development objectives.
She highlighted the importance of the conference’s discussion axes in the areas of skills development and alignment with labour market needs, enhancing employment opportunities, and human resource development, stressing the necessity of keeping pace with rapid developments in the labour market and leveraging modern technologies.
She considered that digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and technological advancement pose new challenges and opportunities for Arab labour markets, necessitating skills development, improved workforce efficiency, and strengthened institutional capacity to keep pace with these transformations.
She further noted that the conference’s proceedings also address the impacts of climate change on the work environment, occupational safety and health, the transition to a green economy, and the role of startups and entrepreneurship in supporting labour markets and creating new job opportunities.
Al-Asimi reaffirmed Kuwait’s commitment to strengthening its active presence at Arab and international forums concerned with labour issues, and to benefiting from successful experiences and practices to contribute to the development of the labour and employment system and to foster a sustainable and inclusive work environment.
The Kuwaiti delegation participating in the 52nd session, chaired by Engineer Rabab Al-Asimi, includes representatives of the three production partners: governments, employers, and workers.
Jordan is presiding over this session, which discusses a number of issues related to the future of work and development in Arab countries, and aims to enhance cooperation, exchange of expertise, and sharing of experiences in the fields of labour, employment, and human resource development.
