Washington, Sept 12 (KUNA) – Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Portal praised today, Saturday, the support provided by Kuwait, represented by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, to Cuba’s economic infrastructure.

The Kuwaiti Embassy in Cuba said in a statement that this came during a meeting between Kuwait’s Ambassador to Havana, Adel Al-Adgham, and the Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, attended by senior officials from the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The statement added that Ambassador Al-Adgham discussed with his Cuban counterpart the trajectory of bilateral relations and ways to enhance them in a manner that serves the interests of both countries.

It clarified that Portal commended during the meeting the distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries and Kuwait’s political and economic support for the Republic of Cuba, recalling the vital role played by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in supporting Cuba’s economic infrastructure.

According to the statement, the Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister affirmed that Havana is ready to strengthen health cooperation between the two sides and provide any possible assistance to Kuwait, particularly in the medical field and medical personnel.

He explained that Portal reiterated his thanks to Kuwait for its steadfast position supporting international resolutions and Cuban interests in international forums, noting that this stance reflects the depth of Kuwaiti-Cuban relations.

The Cuban official also praised the outcomes of a visit last week by a joint delegation from Kuwait’s Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which held the first round of discussions on a double taxation agreement between the two countries. (End) A.M.M. / F.A.S.
