Iraqi Parliament Speaker Condemns Attacks on Saudi Arabia, Reiterates Call for State Monopoly on Arms

Baghdad, September 12 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi expressed his condemnation on Saturday of the attacks targeting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reaffirming his rejection of the use of Iraqi territory or airspace to threaten the security of the Kingdom or any of its neighboring countries. In a statement, al-Halbousi called for adherence to the principle of restricting weapons to the state and its constitutional institutions under the command of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, “thereby strengthening state sovereignty, safeguarding the country’s security and stability, and preventing Iraq from being drawn into regional conflicts.” (End) A.H.H. / M.M.J.
