Saudi Arabia: Precautionary shutdown of East-West pipeline following multiple attacks
Riyadh, September 11 (KUNA) -- The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday that the East-West pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions was targeted several times on Thursday morning, prompting a precautionary shutdown of the line, with the attacks resulting in some injuries. SPA quoted a senior official in the Saudi Ministry of Energy as saying, “The East-West pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions was subjected to multiple attacks on Thursday morning, September 10, 2026. The pipeline was shut down as a precautionary measure, and the attacks resulted in some injuries. Medical care has been provided to the injured.” The official added that “emergency teams and specialized technical teams began their work immediately following the attacks and took the necessary measures to secure the pipeline and verify its integrity, in accordance with approved safety procedures and emergency plans, in coordination with relevant authorities.
