Spain condemns Iranian attacks on Jordan and warns of escalation risks
Madrid, September 11 (KUNA) -- The Spanish government condemned the Iranian missile attacks on Jordanian territory, expressing its full solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, its government, and its people. In a statement issued late Thursday, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Madrid’s firm support for Jordan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security, warning that the attacks heighten the risk of escalation in the region. The statement added that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, calling for an end to violence and emphasizing that dialogue and diplomacy are the only means to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region. The Spanish condemnation comes amid rising military tensions in the region, following the reprehensible Iranian attack on Wednesday morning that targeted areas in Jordan. Jordanian forces announced that their air defenses intercepted a missile assault on the kingdom, which included 20 ballistic missiles launched from Iranian territory. (End) H.N.D.
