United States Imposes Sanctions on Networks Supporting Iraqi Hezbollah Brigades and Lebanese Hezbollah

Washington, Sept 10 (KUNA) – The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced on Thursday the imposition of sanctions on networks accused of providing support to Iraq’s Hezbollah Brigades and Lebanon’s Hezbollah. In a statement, the Treasury said its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) “took action today against networks that enable the Iranian regime to spread chaos and destruction in the Middle East through its terrorist proxies, with the latest sanctions targeting entities that provide support to Hezbollah Brigades and Hezbollah.” It affirmed that “such groups bolster Iran’s destabilizing influence in the Middle East and endanger U.S. forces.” The Treasury clarified that the sanctions “target the core of Iran’s most dangerous proxies, groups that not only terrorize civilians across the Middle East but also serve as key tools used by Tehran to spread violence, sabotage, and global instability.” It is recalled that the United States launched “Operation Economic Outcast” on the 24th of last month to cut off every economic lifeline feeding the Iranian regime, targeting sectors such as digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and maritime shipping.
