French President discusses the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East with his Vietnamese counterpart

Paris, September 10 (KUNA) -- French President Emmanuel Macron held talks today, Thursday, with his Vietnamese counterpart, To Lam, at the Élysée Palace, discussing the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as regional issues, particularly in the South China Sea and within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The Élysée Palace said in a statement that President Macron received his Vietnamese counterpart on the occasion of his official visit to France and his participation in the International Space Summit. The statement added that, building on the state visit made by the French president to Hanoi in May 2025, this meeting served to accelerate the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership and develop cooperation between France and Vietnam, with the aim of enhancing the strategic autonomy of both countries.

In a post on the social media platform X, Macron said, “We are delighted to welcome you in Paris, Mr. President.” He added, “We have moved beyond words to give a concrete and practical dimension to our comprehensive strategic partnership through the numerous agreements signed today.”

Macron further stated, “The depth of our historical relationship and the acceleration of these ties make France’s friendship and respect for Vietnam even stronger, and we look forward to achieving more together.” (End) M.B. / M.M.J.
